Building Brighter Futures in Uganda: Our Recent Projects

By Penny Randell, Secretary – Speakers for Africa, Inc.

At Speakers for Africa, our mission is simple: to empower Ugandan schools through education, health, and sustainable development. Over the past year, we’ve completed several impactful projects that are improving the daily lives of hundreds of students.

🧱 Rwakobo Primary School Pit Latrine Project

One of our proudest accomplishments is the Rwakobo Pit Latrine Project in Mbarara District, Uganda. Before this project, students had to use open fields or unsafe old latrines that had collapsed.

Thanks to our supporters and the partnership of Hon. Wilson Kajwenje, we constructed a four-stall, gender-sensitive pit latrine with expanded handwashing stations. The project now serves over 450 students and promotes dignity, safety, and health for both girls and boys.

📚 Uganda Youth Aid Nursery & Primary School Support

In Kampala, we delivered desks, textbooks, tablets, and school supplies to the Uganda Youth Aid Nursery & Primary School, where many of the students are orphans or from vulnerable backgrounds.

Along with classroom improvements, we helped start boys’ and girls’ soccer clubs, providing uniforms, equipment, and coaches. These programs encourage teamwork and boost school attendance.

🌾 Sustainable Food & Hygiene Initiatives

We launched a school agriculture and hygiene program to teach students about growing food and maintaining sanitation. The initiative includes seed donations, garden tools, and hygiene training sessions. These lessons help schools reduce food insecurity and promote better health long-term.

💡 Why It Matters

Clean water, sanitation, and education are foundational human needs. Without them, children miss school and communities suffer preventable illnesses. Each project we complete strengthens Uganda’s future by giving children a safe and inspiring place to learn.

Speakers for Africa is built on transparency, partnership, and sustainability. We show donors exactly where their support goes through updates and videos directly from Uganda.
